Media Relations

Working with journalists from around the globe to cover the news, research advances, and people of MIT.

What we do

MIT is home to extraordinary work in science, technology, and other fields of inquiry, and to the world-class faculty and students who make that true. Those of us charged with sharing the Institute's news with the media hope that we can be your guides, whether you are interested in learning more about a specific research advance or simply getting to know the Institute as a whole.

For journalists

The media relations team is happy to assist journalists covering MIT. Please contact us for more background on particular stories, to arrange interviews with MIT faculty, or for information about filming on campus. You can also visit the Press Center on MIT News for information at a glance about signing up for press releases, identifying experts, guidelines for filming on campus, and more.

For the MIT community

We work closely with journalists from around the globe who cover the news, research advances, and people of MIT. If you have a forthcoming publication or public recognition that may be of interest to the media, have received a media request, anticipate media outreach, or would like help preparing for a media appearance, please feel free to reach out – the sooner, the better! Our team, along with your department, lab, or center communications professionals, is on deck to help guide and support you.

Additionally, our team manages the “MIT In the Media” section of MIT News, which highlights some news articles, broadcast segments, and other media featuring MIT community members.

Have news related to MIT?

Our media team and colleagues at MIT News honor all embargoes. If you are an organization outside of MIT and have a forthcoming award or other announcement involving the Institute or a member of our community, please reach out, noting the people, labs, or activity involved – and your connection to it. For outside entities such as sponsors or collaborators looking to mention MIT, visit the Institute Use of Name section for guidance.
