Mission + Leadership
The Office of Communications seeks to inform and inspire the MIT community, tell our story far and wide, and attract exceptional talent, everywhere, committed to a better world.
We help MIT engage with audiences.
The Office of Communications explores new and better methods for MIT to spark the right connections within MIT and between MIT and the world. We tailor communications experiences to the passions and needs of those who wish to join, support, or understand our mission and its pursuit.
We tell MIT’s story.
We offer compelling content about MIT’s research, teaching, and innovation to reporters and readers around the world. Through the Institute’s websites, social media channels, and other communications tools, we are generating the new connections that lead to new collaborations — both on campus and around the world. We also offer guidance on developing op-eds and other forms of communications.
We make our digital platform open and compelling — just like our campus.
Through the Institute’s websites, social media channels, and other communications tools, we are generating new connections, cutting-edge ideas, and groundbreaking work — both on the MIT campus and around the world.
We empower the MIT community to speak and be heard.
Our Media Relations team provides valuable speaking and interviewing advice to MIT’s leadership, faculty, students, and staff. We also offer guidance with developing op-eds and other forms of communications.
We offer support during difficult times.
Our crisis team helps members of the MIT community navigate emergencies, public relations issues, and delicate situations.
We unify the many voices of the Institute.
The Office of Communications connects the many communications professionals at MIT to one another and to our central efforts. We help the schools, departments, labs, and centers of the Institute speak to the world with a unified voice.
